Jay Sutton was named vice president, Engineering and Supply Chain Services, in March 2009. He leads several departments including engineering, construction, supply chain management, fleet, occupational health, safety, crisis management and business continuity planning.

Prior to taking on this role, Mr. Sutton served as vice president and general manager, Coastal Region (Atlanta Gas Light and Florida City Gas). His responsibilities included driving financial performance, meeting customer needs, ensuring compliance, building strong community relationships and all other operations.

An engineer by training, Mr. Sutton brings 25 years of diverse company experience to his position. He served as director, Strategic Alliances, and played a key role in the successful transition of AGL Resources’ call center operations and other back office functions offshore in 2006.

Mr. Sutton has held numerous engineering leadership positions within the company and is responsible for centralizing and standardizing its pipeline construction program and practices. He implemented new procedures and technology that led to improved customer service and significant capital cost reductions.

Mr. Sutton was also responsible for managing the pipeline replacement program in Georgia, which has an annual construction budget of more than $150 million and is one of the most aggressive pipeline replacement programs in the country.

He received his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Clemson University and is a registered professional engineer in the state of Georgia. He currently serves on the board of directors for the Florida Natural Gas Association.
