Sequent Energy Management
Douglas N. Schantz joined Sequent Energy Management and was named president in May 2003. He leads all aspects of Sequent’s operations including natural gas asset management, deal origination, trading and mid-marketing, and producer services.
Over the past six years, Mr. Schantz has overseen the company’s growth to a top 15 North American natural gas marketing company and a leading physical trading organization along the Eastern Seaboard. He was appointed to the Policy Committee for Sequent’s parent organization, AGL Resources, which oversees all of the operations of one of the largest distribution companies in the United States.
Including his activities at Sequent, Mr. Schantz has more than 25 years of experience in the energy industry and natural gas markets. He has also served in senior management positions with Cinergy Corp., Kinder-Morgan Inc., Tenneco Energy Company and Transco Energy Company.
Mr. Schantz was raised in Bethesda, Md., and is a graduate of the University of Virginia. He holds a masters degree in business administration with a concentration in finance from the University of Chicago.
He is currently on the advisory board for the Entergy-Tulane Energy Institute and serves as the 2009 Corporate Chairman of the Houston Gulf Coast Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Walk to Cure Diabetes.
