Tropical Shipping
Michael Pellicci is chairman and president of Tropical Shipping, a subsidiary of AGL Resources (NYSE:GAS), where he oversees all aspects of the containerized shipping company serving the Caribbean region and the Bahamas. Tropical Shipping is one of the leading containerized cargo shippers in its region, with about 900 employees and almost five decades of service on the seas. The company operates a fleet of 12 owned vessels and charters others to provide flexibility as market conditions demand. Tropical Shipping serves ports in the Bahamas, Turks & Caicos, Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Eastern Caribbean and Guyana.
Mr. Pellicci joined Tropical Shipping in 2006 as chief financial officer. He was appointed chairman of Tropical Shipping's Ethics Committee, a position he still holds today. In 2008 he was charged with the company's acquisition strategy and grew services and increased economic returns through successful acquisitions.
Prior to joining Tropical Shipping, he was senior vice president, finance and planning; treasurer; and chief accounting officer at Seabulk International, a publicly traded marine transportation company focused on the energy industry.
Mr. Pellicci serves on the board of directors of the Associated Industries of Florida and is a trustee of the Caribbean Central American Action.
He earned his undergraduate degree from The Citadel and his master's in business administration from Georgia State University. He served as an officer in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1987-1995 and is a Certified Public Accountant.
Mr. Pellicci resides in Jupiter, Fla., with his wife and two children.
